Strengthening institutional relations in Cauca

The Vice-Rector of Extension and Social Projection of the María Cano University Foundation, Carlos Julio Escobar Noreña, accompanied by the Coordinator of the Popayán campus, Angélica María Zuluaga Calle, leads an important task of relationship, dialogue, listening and analysis of the needs of the different organizations and administrations of the department of Cauca, with a view to seeing the possibilities of institutional linkage to the development plans that are in place for the next term. As part of this work, a meeting was held with the Secretary of Health and Social Protection, Erika Correa, as well as with the Secretary of Education and Human Development of the municipality of Totoró, Walter Denis Camayo; where the different needs of the locality were analyzed in order to generate significant contributions in their improvement.
The Municipality of Totoró is known as «The Golden Gate of the Eastern Caucano». Due to its strategic location, this municipality becomes a very important axis of communication, since it is the contact route between Popayán and the municipalities of Inzá, Belalcázar, Silvia and the department of Huila. Its importance lies in the diversity and quality of its landscapes that allow the intensive cultivation of relevant products in the Cauca economy: potato, ulluco, onion, corn, aromatic, cabuya, dual-purpose cattle, yucca, coffee, banana, among others.
Likewise, a visit was made to the Mayor of the municipality of Piendamó, Víctor Hugo Franco, in order to generate some institutional bets, understanding the needs of the town and its population, where the importance of continuous academic training for all population. Piendamó is a stopover site for tourists and travelers who transit between the cities of Cali and Popayán to the population of Silvia; one of its main tourist attractions is the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Piendamó, the Railway Bridge and the Aguapanelaso Viewpoint.
Likewise, in that area of Colombia, SENA and María Cano signed the special cooperation framework agreement, the purpose of which is: «To join technical, human, academic, logistical, scientific and investigative efforts, in order that the appropriate ones benefit mutually of the programs of well-being and training, professional training, continuous training and entrepreneurship ”. Scope of the object: “a. To promote the academic mobility of SENA apprentices and graduates of the Technological and Technical levels ”. Therefore, the Vice-rector for projection and extension Carlos Julio Escobar Noreña and the Popayán Headquarters Coordinator Angelica Maria Zuluaga Calle, held a meeting together with the Regional Director Hernando Ramirez Dulcey and Claudia Giraldo, coordinator of agreements. During this meeting, some fundamental aspects were taken up again, such as the articulation with research, entrepreneurship, training chain, laboratories, among others.
