Successful start of the VIII Congress ALFEPSI

Asociación Latinoamericana para la Formación y Enseñanza de la Psicología (Latinamerican Association for Psychology Education and Teaching), Fundación Universitaria María Cano (Maria Cano University Foundation), and Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia (Colombian Cooperative University) open the VII ALFEPSI international Congress that takes place in Medellin between October 2 and 5, discussing about “Discursos y prácticas para un formación en psicología latinoamericana culturalmente sensible (Discourses and practices for a culturally sensitive Latin-American Education in Psychology)”. More than 400 guests, national and international, will generate the environment to interchange academic and professional experiences that favor development of a plural kind of Psychology, contributing to the welfare and integral development of Latin-American population.
The event has a scientific table that is leaded by Psychology authorities in the continent, such as Ângela Soligo (Brazil), Mario Morales (Chile), Dora Patricia Celis (Costa Rica), Barbara Zas (Cuba), Nayib Carrasco (Colombia), Horacio Maldonado (Argentina), Samuel Islas (Mexico), and Diego Raúl Cadona (Colombia), who recently analyzed the approaches of the Psychology field worldwide to promote activities that contribute to strength the dynamism and presence of Latin-American Psychology with an ethical projection; to identify theoretical and practical tools that facilitate diagnostic processes, research, and intervention from Psychology, in agreement to Latin-American reality; and to promote the production of knowledge and methodologies, for a committed psychology that responds to the needs of Latin America.
Among the most prominent guest speakers at the VIII International ALFEPSI Congress are: Sônia María Lemos (Brazil), Jaime Alberto Carmona Parra (Colombia), María Rosario Espinosa Salcido (Mexico) and Diego Alveiro Restrepo Ochoa (Colombia), who will be three days in the facilities of both institutions of higher education to share their experiences, professional studies, and great achievements for the strengthening of the profession.
The Director of the Medellín Campus of Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, Pilar Patricia Mesa Ochoa, and the Vice Chancellor of Extension and Social Projection of Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Carlos Julio Escobar Noreña, officially opened the activity and received more than 400 national and international guests.
