The María Cano University Foundation certified the first 626 people who completed the Community IMCI Diploma with Emphasis on Detection of Alerts in Development: Identify to Prevent and Act in Context, a program developed within the framework of the Institute’s training and qualification processes Colombian Family Welfare – ICBF and which is aimed at Educational Agents of that entity, located in eight departments of the country. The diploma seeks that trained educational agents detect alerts in child development and generate prevention, intervention and referral actions in situations that affect the health and well-being of children and their families, in coherence with the policy of the state of Comprehensive Early Childhood Development from Zero to Forever.
During the 120 hours of training that took place, face-to-face and synchronously, the participants carried out debates, case analysis, role plays, simulations, among other methodologies that were possible thanks to the experience and strengths of the María Cano University Foundation through from the Specialization in Comprehensive Early Childhood Care. This training project meant a logistical effort of great proportions because it had to guarantee the development of face-to-face sessions in the municipalities of Medellín, Apartadó, Barbosa and San Rafael in Antioquia; Riohacha, Maicao and Uribia in La Guajira; Popayán, Cajibío and Inzá in Cauca; Neiva and La Plata in Huila; Sogamoso in Boyacá; Cali in Valle del Cauca and Quibdó in Chocó.
It is important to highlight that in many of these places it is the first time that the María Cano Foundation has been present with its academic processes, which has allowed it to continue projecting the Institution’s capabilities and impacting the territories with the academic quality seal.
La María Cano highlights that the project is led by the Vice-Rector for Extension and Social Projection, through the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Coordination of Strategic Projects, with a human team of 12 administrative people and 38 tutors in the eight departments , 2,980 contacted educational agents were impacted and 1,034 approved educational agents passed the ICBF filters to participate. What institutional consolidation means with the generation of important projects of national impact.
