Talento Tech Cali Launches
- 20 agosto, 2025

The María Cano University Foundation has announced the launch of Talento Tech, a training program designed to strengthen the digital skills of students and the general community. The inaugural session was led by engineer Carlos Hidalgo Becerra, a mentor in the field of Artificial Intelligence, who conducted the first session focused on the historical and conceptual aspects of this discipline.
During the session, the origins and evolution of Artificial Intelligence were explored, along with its most significant applications, and an overview of its main branches, including Deep Learning, was presented. The importance of prompts as key tools in the use of AI models was also highlighted, along with a reflection on the impact of technological development on contemporary society.
Through this initiative, the Foundation reaffirms its commitment to innovative education and the strengthening of human talent in areas relevant to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
What is Talento Tech?
Talento Tech is a free program of intensive bootcamps in technology-related areas (such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Analysis, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, among others). It has an approximate duration of 159 hours over six weeks, and is aimed at improving digital employability.
The program is part of the national initiative of the Ministry of ICT, under the Talento Tech Region 2 scheme, which includes departments such as Antioquia, Caldas, Chocó, Quindío, Risaralda, and Valle del Cauca. Its goal is to provide free training, either in-person or virtually, to over 21,000 citizens between 2024 and 2026.
In the case of Valle del Cauca, the official platform reports that the bootcamps are held either in person or via live virtual sessions, with flexible schedules (morning, afternoon, and evening), and that participants receive a certificate upon completion. This training is inclusive and quality-focused, aimed at all interested audiences. Talento Tech is designed to reach diverse population groups, including women, people from rural areas, and individuals from different socioeconomic backgrounds, with the clear purpose of reducing the digital divide in the country.
Conclusion
The launch of the Talento Tech program in Cali represents an important step by María Cano to promote technological education through academia, aligning with the needs of the digital market. The first session on Artificial Intelligence, led by engineer Carlos Hidalgo Becerra, marked the beginning of this commitment to educate in key 21st-century skills.
However, the program’s impact will depend on its educational quality, support mechanisms, and its ability to effectively integrate with the region’s educational ecosystem. Online opinions suggest that experiences may vary, making it crucial for both the Foundation and participants to work toward ensuring high standards and tangible outcomes.
