At the Popayán campus, as part of the strategies to facilitate the adaptation of the new students of the Physiotherapy and Phonoaudiology programs who come from other municipalities and departments in the southwestern part of the country, an awareness and approach tourist tour was carried out, with the new members of the María Cano community who are currently studying the first semester in the capital of the department of Cauca. The activity began with a visit to representative areas, which will now be part of their day to day, such as Parque Caldas where they were able to visit, the Cathedral, the Clock Tower, the Governor’s Office of Cauca and the Popayán City Hall; in addition to an experiential work in the Library of the Bank of the Republic and the Museum of Guillermo León Valencia.
The María Cano University Foundation, through different proposals and programs, recognizes that many of the new students are very young people who are in a learning process, not only academic but of adult life; For many, it is the first time they are away from home and away from loved ones, so guidance and support activities are carried out so that the adaptation to university life is increasingly effective, which will be seen reflected in greater stability in the training process and a healthy acceptance of the new demands of university life.
Additionally, the students were invited to tour each of the spaces of the physical infrastructure of the María Cano in this white city of Colombia, so that they can enjoy the institutional well-being scenarios, the laboratories and the most common places of the Institution, they relate to collaborators and be able to live, from the first moment, what the #MásMaríaCano experience is… Welcome, we are proud to be part of your lives.
