Accounting professionals have been of great importance to organizations, the economy and especially to the state. Professional who is no stranger to being at the forefront of the different challenges of the fourth industrial revolution and changes in the demands of the global context.
Higher education has been concerned with training professionals only in cognitive skills, but these are not enough for the training of the accounting professional, which society currently requires. According to the contributions of Portafolio (2019), the great demand for professionals for the scarce labor supply is due to the lack of the creative, innovative and intrapreneurial contribution of current professionals in Colombia.
It is there where the opportunity is evident as a study objective, to identify the qualities that the accounting professional of the new era requires, serving as an input for curricular updating in the academic program of Public Accounting.
