Campoalegre is located in the center of the department of Huila, it is framed to the west by the Magdalena River and the Betania dam, and to the east by the west flank of a branch of the eastern mountain range. It is part of the subnorthern region of the department, its territorial area is 485 square kilometers and its average temperature is 27° Celsius. It has a population that exceeds 35 thousand inhabitants and is an important agro-industrial center with factories that process rice marketed on a large scale. It has an emphasis on livestock production and fish farming due to its proximity to the Betania dam. It is also recognized as the capital. rice cooker of the department.
