Training in inclusion and health
- 12 febrero, 2025

Within the framework of the teaching-service agreement with the San José University Hospital, the Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Popayán campus, developed the course «Inclusive Communication: Tools for the Care of People with Hearing Disabilities,» an initiative aimed at strengthening health care with a focus on equity and inclusion.
This course arose in response to the need to ensure effective communication between health professionals and people with hearing disabilities, promoting accessible environments and more humanized care. During the training, participants acquired both theoretical and practical tools to improve interaction with this population, contributing to the removal of barriers in the provision of health services. The implementation of strategies like this reflects María Cano’s commitment to inclusive education and the training of professionals with social sensitivity. Furthermore, it strengthens the coordination with health institutions like the San José University Hospital, fostering the exchange of knowledge and the application of good practices for the benefit of the community.
Equitable access to health services is a fundamental right, and in this regard, María Cano continues to promote initiatives that positively impact the care of diverse populations.
The training in inclusive communication not only improves service quality but also fosters a culture of respect and recognition of diversity.
With such programs, the institution reaffirms its mission of training professionals committed to social transformation, promoting learning spaces that go beyond the classroom and materialize in concrete actions for the well-being of the community.
