Transforming the Future: Nutrition and Dietetics Students Connect with Youth Public Policy
- 13 mayo, 2026
In a space for academic and social engagement, first-semester students from the Nutrition and Dietetics program at Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Popayán campus, participated in a training session aimed at strengthening their comprehensive perspective as future professionals committed to the human and social development of the region. The activity was carried out within the Human Development course, led by professor Astrid Yulieth Camayo Ledezma, and featured the participation of Luisa María Castillo, head of the Social Management Office, together with the Youth Program team.

During the session, students learned about the current institutional services and the main principles of the Youth Public Policy, understanding how government strategies can contribute to strengthening life projects, citizen participation, and social transformation within communities. The event encouraged reflection on the role of future health professionals as social actors capable of generating positive impact in their communities by promoting comprehensive well-being and actively participating in regional development processes.
Key topics included access to entrepreneurship programs, mental health initiatives, and youth participation opportunities, as well as the importance of interdisciplinarity and the relationship between nutritional well-being, human development, and public policy. Through initiatives like this, Fundación Universitaria María Cano reaffirms its commitment to an education that goes beyond the classroom, fostering leadership, critical thinking, and a sense of belonging among students from the very beginning of their professional education.
