Tribute to Speech Therapists at María Cano

On September 6, the Speech Therapist’s Day is celebrated, a date on which the work of this professional and his contribution to the communicative well-being of the population around the world is celebrated. Speech and language pathologists are autonomous professionals who make decisions with scientific and deep knowledge of human communication as a sphere of development of the people in their environment, as well as of the processes that concern them: cognition, language, speech, voice, hearing and function. oral pharyngeal. Its actions are aimed at promoting communicative health, prevention of communication disorders, evaluation and diagnosis of communicative health conditions, comprehensive rehabilitation and follow-up and monitoring of health programs.
Within the framework of this celebration of this profession that is representative for María Cano in its thirty-three years of existence, on Monday, September 7, the commemorative event was held at the Institution. Graduates, students, teachers and administrators participated in this meeting whose central theme was: «The role of the Speech Therapist in primary health care: Hearing and communicative health»; the space was guided by Dr. Nidia Isabel Molano Cubillos, Professional in Speech Therapy and Nursing, Specialist in Audiology, Master in Public Health and Social Development; who is a national reference for hearing and communicative health in the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. Likewise, there was a musical show to close the event.
La María Cano ratifies, in this way, the importance of this profession for institutional action and in present and future projects.
