The coordinators of the Nutrition and Dietetics program at the Popayán and Medellín headquarters, Gildardo de Jesús Uribe Gil and Sara Marcela Montenegro Méndez, attended the 38th Congress of Metabolism and Clinical Nutrition in Bucaramanga, where they were updated on crucial topics in the field. This event allowed them to acquire advanced knowledge about nutritional management in various diseases and new intervention strategies. The information obtained at the conference will significantly contribute to improving the education offered to students, ensuring training with the most current tools and knowledge, and thus strengthening the program’s commitment to academic excellence and professional development.

The Congress held by the Colombian Association of Clinical Nutrition (ACNC) at the NeoMundo Convention Center, took place in four auditoriums, each with its own programming, in which the symposiums of: Nutritional education not based on weight, Screening stood out. and nutritional diagnosis in pediatrics, Parenteral Nutritional Support Symposium, Nutrition Symposium in the elderly, critically ill patient, Nutritional Support Course in Gastrointestinal Diseases; as well as other academic updates in the area of ​​clinical nutrition.

62 national and international speakers participated in the Congress and more than 1,500 professionals from different health areas related to human nutrition attended. The attendance of the María Cano coordinators at the event promoted the recognition of the Institution and the program in the national and international context and promoted alliances with academic peers for the development of future missionary processes.
