Vice-rectors visit the Cali campus
- 22 septiembre, 2025

At the María Cano University Foundation, the Cali campus recently hosted a three-day visit from Vice-Rectors Paola Rueda López (Vice-Rector for Expansion and Social Outreach) and Elkin Antonio Restrepo Escobar (Vice-Rector for Administration and Finance). Their presence strengthened the institution’s academic, administrative, and social ties, leading to meaningful engagements with students, faculty, and external partners.
Vice-Rector Elkin Antonio Restrepo carried out key activities focused on improving the campus infrastructure, with the aim of expanding and optimizing spaces. During his tour of the campus, he had the opportunity to listen to students from the Physical Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology programs, who participated as representatives from various semesters.
Meanwhile, Vice-Rector Paola Rueda López consolidated strategic relationships with various local governments in nearby municipalities. In Yumbo, she held a meeting with Julio César Perea, Rector of Colegio Mayor de Yumbo, and Ricardo Iglesias Dávila, advisor to the Municipal Department of Education. In Puerto Tejada, she met with Ferney Vargas, Secretary of ICT and Education. These meetings aligned with the institutional motto, “Education dignifies and improves the quality of life for Colombians,” and led to the awarding of scholarships for master’s degree studies, promoting self-learning and virtual professional training through ICT.
In Cali, the Vice-Rector also met with Juan Gabriel Bustamante, Employability Coordinator at the Department of Development in the Cali Mayor’s Office, with the goal of strengthening institutional ties that enhance employability opportunities for future graduates of the María Cano University Foundation.
Private institutions were also visited with the aim of generating strategic alliances that ensure comprehensive training during sports practice for students in the Physical Therapy program — one such example being the partnership with Deportivo Cali.
As part of these partnerships, a valuable agreement was also reached with the Cali Mayor’s Office, in which Claudia, an exemplary woman in her role as a caregiver for people with disabilities, was honored. For her dedication and unpaid service, she was recognized as a leader and role model and received a virtual scholarship in Psychology to study at one of the country’s most prominent universities: the María Cano University Foundation.
Additionally, Vice-Rector Paola Rueda appeared on the Radio Reloj station, where she delivered a presentation during the inauguration of the new Cali campus, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to making higher education more accessible and promoting social transformation through knowledge.
In this way, the visit of the vice-rectors reflects the institution’s commitment to transforming lives through education and professional training, reinforcing the mission of the María Cano University Foundation to positively impact society.
