The Speech Therapy Program of the María Cano University Foundation, in cooperation with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit, developed the First Fair of Speech Therapy Experiences, in which students from the Popayán, Neiva and Medellín campuses participated. The program recognizes that a good idea arises from any context, therefore, in order to strengthen innovation, entrepreneurship and research actions, the execution of the activity was planned, in which 18 ideas arising from different academic fields participated. of the formation of the students of the Institution.
The objective of the fair is to encourage future professionals to create ideas that enrich the work of speech therapy. The proposals presented responded mainly to the research factor (72.2%) and the innovation and entrepreneurship factor (27.8%), thus alluding to what is expressed in the DNA of María Cano in the institutional philosophy and encouraging the transfer of knowledge. in the areas covered.
The event included the participation of professional evaluators, experts in the field of entrepreneurship, innovation and research who provided a valuable contribution for their knowledge, experience and leadership; They were:
- Mauricio Higuita: Public Administrator, MBA, master’s degree in entrepreneurial development and innovation, teacher and consultant on issues related to entrepreneurship and innovation, author of the book: «Undertaking and innovating in the new normality».
- Mauricio Villegas: Social Communicator, specialist in Management and Prospective and Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
- Claudia Gómez Serna: Business Administrator from CEIPA Business School, specialist in Senior Management, Master in Marketing Management, doctoral student in Administrative Sciences, certified by Microempresas de Antioquia as trainer of trainers in entrepreneurship and innovation.
- Mónica Muñoz Hernández: Speech therapist, researcher attached to the Research Directorate of the Metropolitan University of Barranquilla, specialist in Neuro-Cognitive and Learning Disorders, leader of the DEFOM Research Group – Category A.
For the development of the Fair, the participating ideas were categorized in two rooms, a room referring to research ideas and a room referring to ideas of innovation and entrepreneurship, each room awarded the 3 best proposals, which are exalted below:
Room 1 winners:
- Sign language, need in higher education – 111 points
- Diagnosis of the degree of involvement of dysphagia and its relationship with the quality of life of older adults in the geriatric home «La alegría de los grandparents» in the city of Neiva (Huila) – 105 points
- Diagnosis of the degree of fine motor skills of the students of the fifth grade of the municipality of Rivera – 91 points
Room 2 winners:
- Coromoro, Interactive story – 116 points
- Impact of hearing health on alterations in articulatory processes in children – 100 points
- Phonological Twister – 96 points
The Faculty of Health Sciences and the Speech Therapy program of the María Cano University Foundation congratulates all the students who participated through the generation of ideas that demonstrate the quality of the training process in the Institution, to deliver the knowledge to the service of community health in the country.
