- 8 julio, 2025

The María Cano University Foundation welcomed Dr. Fernando Cantor Rincón, a distinguished academic and researcher, who visited the Medellín campus, also via virtual connection with the campuses, to raise awareness among the university community about the multi-campus institutional accreditation process. Thanks to his extensive experience in the academic and scientific fields, he led various work meetings, where he shared his experience on the importance of accreditation processes and their direct impact on educational quality, a key aspect for the development of higher education institutions in Colombia..
In his remarks, Dr. Cantor emphasized that institutional accreditation is a process that transcends formal recognition and represents a strategic opportunity to ensure the continuous improvement of higher education institutions. This process strengthens the quality of academic and administrative processes, guaranteeing excellent training for students. Along these lines, he highlighted the challenges involved in institutional accreditation with a multi-campus approach, a challenge that the María Cano University Foundation decisively embraces, supported by its presence in the cities of Medellín, Cali, Neiva, and Popayán. This commitment is reflected in the progressive consolidation of its Internal Quality Assurance System (SIAC), which has become a key tool for coordinated management, institutional monitoring, and the promotion of a culture of quality at all levels, consistent with the institution’s identity and strategic priorities..
The María Cano University Foundation, with seven High Quality accredited programs, is strategically positioned to undertake the multi-campus institutional accreditation process. This process will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established in Agreement 02 of 2020 of the National Accreditation Council (CNA). This will be one of the institution’s main priorities in the coming years. María Cano University Foundation will present all the necessary information to support its commitment to educational quality at each of its campuses. This effort seeks to consolidate the institution as a benchmark in higher education in the country and offer the community a comprehensive education aligned with the highest national and international standards.
The institutional accreditation process is, in the words of Dr. Cantor, an exercise in constant self-assessment that involves the entire university community. Through this process, the María Cano University Foundation will be able to demonstrate to the CNA that it is more than prepared to continue providing quality education at all its campuses, ensuring that academic excellence is equitably present at each of the institution’s campuses. The academic emphasized that collaborative work, a spirit of continuous improvement, and the ongoing participation of all members of the university community are essential to ensuring the success of this challenge.
Dr. Fernando Cantor Rincón, a biologist from the National University of Colombia and a PhD in Entomology from the Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil, is a renowned senior researcher at Colciencias and has directed more than 40 research projects at the undergraduate and graduate levels. With more than 60 scientific publications, his extensive knowledge of innovation processes and educational quality, combined with his experience as a professor at the Nueva Granada Military University, represents fundamental support for the María Cano University Foundation in this accreditation process. His visit reinforces the institution’s commitment to continuous improvement and the training of highly qualified professionals ready to face the challenges of a globalized world.
