Visit to the Qualified Registry of the Specialization in Sports Psychology begins

The Faculty of Health Sciences and the Psychology program of the María Cano University Foundation, at the Medellín headquarters, receives on September 2 and 3 the visit of academic peers to obtain the qualified registry that will allow offering the Specialization in Sports Psychology. The visitors, in the virtual modality, are Dr. Óscar Danilo Mesa Patiño, University of Manizales Psychologist, Master in Health Administration from the Pontificia Javeriana University, Specialist in Occupational Health Management from the University of the Andean Area, Specialist in Management of the Human Talent from the University of Manizales; and Dr. Carlos Augusto Murillo García, Psychologist from the University of Manizales, Master in Pedagogy and Human Development from the University of Manizales.
The Specialization in Sports Psychology seeks to train specialists with skills for the evaluation and intervention in psychological processes in sports initiation and performance, capable of designing and implementing psychological plans, programs and projects aimed at preventing sedentary lifestyle, promoting physical activity. , health and quality of life in Colombia. It hopes to provide the country with specialists with skills for the evaluation and intervention in psychological processes in sports initiation and performance, with a broad theoretical, practical, investigative and interdisciplinary perspective, capable of designing and implementing psychological plans, programs and projects aimed at prevention. of sedentary lifestyle, the promotion of physical activity, health and quality of life in Colombia.
The visit is attended by the rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras, the vice rectors Jorge Albeiro Herrera Builes, Carlos Julio Escobar Noreña and Andrés Gutiérrez Villa; in addition to the dean Amilbia Palacios Córdoba and the director of Psychology, Andrés Felipe Londoño Vélez. The team of teachers stands out in the proposal, made up of psychologists Ana Milena Gaviria Gómez, Juliana Andrea Montoya Otálvaro, Diana Alejandra Vigoya Reina, Rocío del Pilar Maestre Preciado, Yeidy Elizabeth Gómez Galeano and Lina María Orrego Ramírez; the philosopher Daison Guillermo Guerra Martínez, and the graduates in physical education Andrés Leonardo Colorado and Víctor Octavio Madrid Henao.
The future specialist in Sports Psychology will be able to work in sports initiation and performance schools in the field of evaluation and psychological intervention; advise athletes, coaches, managers, parents, judges, among others; advise doctors, nutritionists, physical trainers and methodologists; coordinate sports psychology in institutions
public and private, direct psychological training plans, programs, plans and projects to promote physical activity, health and quality of life; as well as coordinating teams to promote physical activity.
