We actively participate in the workshop on curricular flexibility in inclusive education

María Cano University participated in the activity held in the city of Popayán on the importance of curricular flexibility in order to generate a more inclusive academic background that responds to the needs of the community. The event was organized by the University of Cauca and the development of the activities was in charge of the teaching staff of the Spanish University Rey Juan Carlos and the Autonomous University of Manizales, with the participation of members of the Inter-University committee for Disability. Julián David Cerón Bedoya attended on behalf of the María Cano University Foundation, branch Cali.
The workshop began with the presentation of the process of construction of the institutional policy of inclusion by Unicauca, Implementation of the Unit of Care to people with Disabilities and Special Educational Needs (NEE) carried out by the University Rey Juan Carlos and the Curricular Flexibility Workshop developed by the Autonomous University of Manizales, based on their individual experiences of students with disabilities, following the guidelines made by the Ministry of National Education: Universal design of learning, Design of products, settings, programs and services that can be used by all people without the need for specific adaptation of design; all issues to provide quality care to ensure inclusive education.
As a general conclusion, the importance of the rate of inclusion in higher education as a parameter for future institutional accreditation of high quality is highlighted, posing the following challenges:
