- 7 mayo, 2021

The Colombian Ministry of Health has been emphatic on the importance of complying with the National Vaccination Plan that, through Decree 109 of 2021, issued the provisions, established the target population, the prioritization criteria, the phases and the route for the application of the vaccine, the responsibilities of each actor, both of the General System of Social Security in Health and of the administrators of the special and exception regimes, as well as the procedure for the payment of the costs of its execution. Thus, in the second stage, Human Talent in Health was prioritized by having direct contact with specialized care for intramural and extramural respiratory symptomatic patients, also in rehabilitation for patients who overcome the disease that has affected the world in the last year and half.
La María Cano, aware of the importance of ensuring the well-being of students and teachers in practice, managed through the Mi Vacuna Platform the prioritization of those who are in the different healthcare centers, achieving to date an immunization scope of 198 members of the #MásMaríaCano community, as follows: 20 at the Cali campus, 11 at the Neiva campus, 58 at the Popayán campus (in the Physiotherapy program) and at the Medellín campus 57 members of the Physiotherapy program, 34 members from the Speech Therapy program and 18 members from the Psychology program.
These students and professors carry out their training practices at the Valle Psychiatric Hospital, the Valle University Hospital, the Carmen Emilia Ospina ESE, the Medilaser Clinic, Metrosalud, the Cancer Institute, the IPS Léon XIII, CEMDE, the Barbosa Hospital, the Venancio Díaz Díaz Hospital, CANI IPS, the Medellín General Hospital, the Bolivarian University Clinic, the Lupines Foundation, the Nuestra Señora del Sagrado Corazón Psychiatric Clinic and the Marco Fidel Suárez de Bello Hospital. In addition, through the IPS María Cano, the students and teachers who are assigned to Andecol, the Center for Comprehensive Attention to Disability of the municipality of Itagüí, the National Athletic Club, Indeportes, the IPS Avanza Salud and the Liga de Swimming of Antioquia.
La María Cano advances and continues to be committed to the process of prioritizing health personnel to achieve higher levels of vaccination that contribute to the search for herd immunity that the National Government of Colombia wants to achieve; which is the situation in which enough members of the population acquire immunity against an infection, where the possibility of epidemic outbreaks is minimized.
Likewise, with the announcement of the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, to integrate university professors and administrators in stage three of immunization against covid-19, María Cano is preparing all its actions so that, once the decree is modified 109 of 2021, to be able to register the Institution’s staff who have not yet been vaccinated by their EPS, with a view to contributing to the progressive and safe return to presence in higher education.
