The María Cano University Foundation and the Professional Council of Business Administration are entities that project the comprehensive training of professionals in this discipline and that consider within their fields of action the design of strategies that are articulated with research, extension and projection policies of both institutions, thus generating representative impacts in various contexts.
In this sense, the Experiential Management Training Seminar was held from October 1 to November 11, a space that allowed Business Administrators (Students – Graduates) of the María Cano University Foundation and also businessmen (Managers) of the economic units of Comuna 10 – La Candelaria de Medellín, strengthen knowledge in terms of productivity, competitiveness, innovation and entrepreneurship with the implementation of management techniques and skills based on the institution’s Creativity and Innovation model, thus achieving the assistants a process of experiential training and coaching with horses, managing to broaden the perspective from modern management and its actions in the current context.
The Experience Management Training seminar allowed attendees to qualify and strengthen managerial skills through experiential training activities under the implementation of agile and efficient design methodologies based on personal, academic, professional and business matters; For this, and as a result of one of the products of the SUMAR research group, the CrIN ecosystem is developed, referring to a way of conceiving and managing innovation and business entrepreneurship as part of the training, research and extension activities carried out the institution. In this sense, the development of these competencies designed for the academic community is proposed from the institution’s creativity and innovation ecosystem, which is represented in the following 3 phases:
The call for the Experiential Management Training Seminar was made by the María Cano University Foundation as follows:
- Mass sending of emails to the database of graduates of the Business Administration program.
- Sending email to students of the Business Administration program identified as businessmen and entrepreneurs.
- Sending e-mail to businessmen (Managers) of the economic units of Commune 10 – La Candelaria de Medellín.

The Experiential Management Training Seminar was carried out between October 1 and November 11, 2020 with an intensity of 20 hours in 4 phases.
Introspection phase: managerial and innovative skills. 5 hours
Transfer of the María Cano Innovation Model – CrIN.
Management Competencies: Productivity and Competitiveness, Innovation and entrepreneurship, Leadership, communication and decision-making, where at the first moment the framing of the seminar and the description of all the activities were made, as well as the contents on which the Seminar was going to revolve and in the second moment there was a presentation of the María Cano University Foundation’s Innovation Model and how it is applied in the business world.
Construction Phase: Support and consulting plan. 5 hours
During this time we had the presence of Professor Humberto Serna who shared about the importance of properly analyzing the environment in order to establish competitiveness and productivity strategies, typical for organizations of the XXI century in VUCA times. Afterwards, an approach was made to the topic of innovation.
Action Phase: Business Challenge. 5 hours
During this space the first meeting was held in alternation. This meant the possibility of developing the activities simultaneously and while we were in the Innovation classroom of the María Cano University Foundation, the virtual students were able to follow up on the proposed activities. In this way the students were able to follow up on the activities so that they could continue their training process in the seminar.
Last phase: Horse-assisted coaching. 5 hours
The moment of closing allows to work on strengthening leadership, relationship, decision-making and action skills in the face of challenges, typical for managers of the 21st century
In this space he also had the option of working from virtuality, allowing the students attending the seminar to experience a 100% experiential activity from a distance that marks for life. This activity allows generating valuable connections for the human being, where the horse acts as a mirror of the way in which the human being makes himself known in all his aspects.

Juan Andrés Velez Salamanca
- Business Administrator of the UPB University, Medellín Colombia. Master in Education and New Technologies from the UDIMA University of Madrid.
- He has served as Regional Manager Molinos del Cauca, Adecco Branch Manager. Facilitator and advisor in training entrepreneurs in business thinking and managerial skills. Teacher with 13 years of experience in administrative and managerial areas, in training for the development of managerial competencies and skills and strategic thinking.
- International Certificate as Facilitator in Experiential Education Outdoor Training. Certified by the Association of Master Trainers in the Lego as a facilitator for workshops with the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY method, Stage 1 and 2. Experience in setting up and developing Outdoor and Indoor Training activities. Certification as a Coach with Cocrear Argentina and with Escuela Eidhi. Certified as a facilitator of GERZA group dynamics. Certified as a VIA Leadership Program Trainer. John Hanley PHD.
Humberto Serna Gomez
- SUMAR group leader) Ed. D. in Administration, Planning and Social Policy, Harvard University. M.A. in Educational Administration, Stanford University. Doctor in Law and Political Science, Universidad de Antioquia. Currently categorized Senior by Colciencias.
- Professor of the Faculty of Administration of the University of Los Andes. He worked as dean of four undergraduate and graduate programs at the Universities of Antioquia, Pedagógica and de los Andes. In 2007, he received the Portfolio Award for Best Teacher in the country.
- He was in charge of the design and implementation of the Distance University program, during the government of Belisario Betancur.
- Management consultant in the areas of Strategic Planning, Management Indices, Strategic Design of Customer Service, Total Quality in Service Companies, Organizational Reengineering and Service Audit in different public and private entities nationally and internationally.
- Author of more than 20 books, monographs and numerous business cases.
