Welcome to the visit of the CNA for Physiotherapy Medellín
- 26 agosto, 2021

Dear students, teachers and collaborators of María Cano! The visit of CNA peers to evaluate the Physiotherapy program constitutes a historical event for María Cano, of which not only the academic community of that undergraduate degree in Medellín, but also the entire Institution in the country, will witness and, with pride , you will be able to register how the Colombian higher education system will begin to ratify its recognition of the academic quality and professional solvency of our educational project.
Even without the visit, I want to anticipate thanking each and every one of those who have contributed to preparing it, for almost two years now, when we began intensely the process of self-evaluation of the program. To all the professors, students, graduates, administrative and managerial staff, both in Physiotherapy and at the central level, thank you for your commitment to this institutional purpose.
Physiotherapy will be the gateway for the other programs, gradually and based on this experience, to enter the world of accreditation. We will dress up to attend, as they deserve, the academic peers, but more than to be evaluated, to present ourselves in the high society of quality. We have many academic arguments to prove it.
The result of this visit will take several weeks, or months, and only until then will we know if we can be accredited or not in this first effort, but the mere fact of having arrived here, after the CNA advisers validated our institutional conditions, and we would have advanced the self-evaluation process, it should fill us with pride and complacency.
I am aware that, as an institution, human and collegiate that we are, we have many opportunities for improvement, and we have already detected that. Accreditation is a complex process, which also identifies difficulties, but, above all, values the commitment and effort for improvement, and in that I must confirm that we have an acclaimed 10.
To express, in Portuguese, that “I believe”, it is said “I accredit”, and as rector I “believe” in the work due to the quality of the Physiotherapy program and of the entire María Cano, because although the accreditation in Colombia corresponds to the confrontation of an institutional reality against some indicators proposed by the National Accreditation Council CNA, in practice it is a belief in the willingness of the program and of the María Cano to continue improving, always, slowly, but without pause.
With my gratitude to all of you, also for believing in your Institution,
HUGO ALBERTO VALENCIA PORRAS
Rector
