In order to strengthen the contribution from the projection and social extension and the recognition of the Physiotherapy and Speech Therapy programs of the Popayán headquarters, the Institution works in coordination with schools of the municipality for the development of the induction of parents, in this occasion school El Mirador. Although the pandemic has generated various problems in the young people who are beginning face-to-face training these days, through work articulated with well-being, psychology and the headquarters’ Speech Therapy program, parents are being guided in relation to some strategies for that the youth of the department return to the classroom in an organized manner and contribute to the reactivation of the education sector. María Cano is committed to the population of Colombia.
In the city of Popayán, the Physiotherapy program trains supportive, autonomous, ethical professionals with critical and creative thinking, communication skills and social commitment that allows them to be agents of change, participating democratically and responsibly in the transformation processes of his profession and the community in which he intervenes.
For its part, the Speech Therapy program provides society with professionals with critical thinking, freelancers with social commitment and a glocal vision, entrepreneurs and innovators, experts in human communication, its disorders and the processes that concern it: language, speech, voice, hearing and oral pharyngeal function.
In Popayán the María Cano is in a strategic location, in the sector with the highest concentration of health institutions, such as the San José University Hospital and the La Estancia Clinic, the most important in the city, as well as being close to various educational and recreational institutions; very close to the headquarters, there are important shopping centers and restaurant area. Opposite the María Cano facilities is the El Recuerdo Park, which has a large recreation and recreation area for students and the community in general, who make constant use of this outdoor space in the capital of Cauca.
