Occupational Therapy program presented

Directors of the María Cano University Foundation made the official presentation to the face-to-face and virtual public of the new face-to-face program at the Medellín headquarters. The Occupational Therapy program aims to train professionals with expertise in promoting, recovering and adapting the processes of autonomy and independence of all people throughout the life course, in educational, work, social, community, play settings, among others. others. The program’s study plan is characterized by quality training with an emphasis on public health, inclusion and neurosciences that allow professionals to make use of cutting-edge techniques and technologies for the process of accompanying or intervening with people and communities based on the principles of neural plasticity and adaptation processes. Likewise, they will be trained in innovation and entrepreneurship that will allow them to lead, associate and work in public and private entities in the educational, labor, social, and financial sectors, among others.
The activity was led by the Vice Chancellor for Extension and Social Projection, Carlos Julio Escobar Noreña; the dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Amilbia Palacios Córdoba; and the professor in charge of the new proposal Angélica Johan Jhoan Alarcón García. In addition, there was a magisterial conference entitled: «Occupational Therapy, a profession for the Future», by Dr. Claudia Marcela Rozo Reyes, who is an Occupational Therapist at the Universidad del Rosario, specialist in University Teaching at the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosary beads. Specialist, Master and PhD in Bioethics from El Bosque University. International Certification in Ayres Sensory Integration. She is Director of the Occupational Therapy program for 18 years; Recognized as Distinguished Professor by the Universidad del Rosario. Editor of the Human Occupation Magazine. She has held the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Member of the Colombian Association of Occupational Therapy Schools. Member of hospital and research ethics and bioethics committees.
The guest is delegated by the National Accreditation Council as an academic peer in the accreditation and qualified registration of Occupational Therapy programs nationwide. Consultant in occupational evaluation processes for children. Member of the Editorial Committee of the Galician Magazine of Occupational Therapists. She has participated as a formulator and expert in the construction of the ECAES tests, in mental health. Collaborating expert in the Abbreviated Scale of Development of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. Creator and director of the Specialization in Child Development and learning processes of this University. Author of articles and book chapters on the participation of the Occupational Therapist in mental health and bioethics and disability; while he has been in private practice for 28 years working with schoolchildren.
