For the education of the young people of Cauca

The Cali headquarters has established an important rapprochement with the Rural Youth of Cauca, a group, led by Juan José García Palacios as president and Ingrid Lizeth García Uzuriaga as vice president, who presented their initiative focused on the projection of Peace and Culture having the municipalities of Puerto Tejada, Guachené, Villarrica and Caloto, municipalities in the north of that department of Colombia. During the meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the María Cano University Foundation in the capital of the Valley, the representatives shared their experiences and goals, highlighting the work they have done for more than five years and the relationships they have established in recent years. three months with the Compaz Foundation and the Caicedo González Foundation. Its work focuses on promoting peace and cultural development in the rural communities of northern Cauca, with a special focus on youth and education.
The coordinator of the headquarters, Alba Liliana Garzón, expressed her enthusiasm for this collaboration, underlining the importance of linking the academic community with initiatives of social and cultural impact. In the activity, various tasks were established to advance this purpose, including the establishment of conversations with the mayors of the four municipalities involved. The objective is to promote the creation of student scholarships that allow young people from these locations to access higher education at the María Cano University Foundation, Cali headquarters.
This approach represents a milestone in efforts to integrate rural youth into formal educational processes and promote a culture of peace and sustainable development in the region. María Cano reaffirms its commitment to inclusive education and support for projects that contribute to the well-being and progress of vulnerable communities. With this step, it is expected to strengthen the ties between the academy and rural communities, generating opportunities that positively impact the lives of young people and, therefore, the comprehensive development of Cauca.
