The Fundación Universitaria María Cano participated in the First Ordinary Assembly of the Delfín Program, which was hosted by the Institución Universitaria Digital de Antioquia in Medellín. The assembly brought together the Technical Advisors from 122 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) of the Colombia chapter (in the areas of Research, Technology, Business Development, and Internationalization). They reviewed the achievements and set the challenges for 2025 in order to continue strengthening the Colombia chapter. The opening conferences were well received by the attendees, and the plenary sessions led to the acceptance of 10 new members, as well as the recognition of achievements in 2024 across the five subprograms of the Delfín program. The most representative ones are presented below.
The Delfín program aims to strengthen the culture of collaboration between Higher Education Institutions and Research Centers involved in the program through exchanges and internships at universities in countries such as Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, the United States, Nicaragua, and Peru.
Stays in Colombia for the XXIX Summer of Scientific and Technological Research of the Delfín Program: In 2024, there were 1,144 Outgoing Students from 81 HEIs (383 in person and 761 virtual) to the following destinations: Mexico (773), Colombia (305), Peru (38), Ecuador (11), Costa Rica (8), Nicaragua (5), the USA (3), and Brazil (1). Additionally, there were 1,852 Incoming Students from 91 HEIs (1,389 in person and 463 virtual).
As part of the Internship, several events took place, including the course on Scientific-Technological and Cultural Skills (with 107 online activities), the X Delfín Research Internship Meeting (July 18-19 in Manizales), which hosted 256 student presenters, 49 research professors, 58 technical advisors, and 140 attendees, the in-person International Congress in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where 11 Colombian HEIs sent 53 students and 11 Technical Advisors and Directors. Finally, the Virtual International Congress in October.
Regarding the call for the XXX Delfín Summer 2025, the student community is informed that the Delfín program has secured researchers from approximately 300 HEIs in countries such as Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Brazil, the United States, and Colombia to act as advisors in 2025 and submit their projects to receive undergraduate and postgraduate students.
