María Cano strengthens bilingualism through partnerships with Red CELE and Pearson
- 22 julio, 2025

Fundación Universitaria María Cano welcomed a visit from the Medellín Network of Language Centers – Red CELE – with the goal of exploring partnerships to promote bilingualism and interculturality in the city. During the meeting, proposals were discussed to work together in training spaces and international opportunities for both students and teachers.
The meeting was attended by Iván Camilo Tavera, Educational Services Manager for Pearson Latin America, along with his team of consultants, who support the positioning of English in various academic, cultural, and commercial environments. Representing María Cano, Paola Andrea García Marín, Coordinator of the Language Center, led the discussion and presented an innovative proposal for creative labs aimed at English teachers from the universities affiliated with the Network.
The María Cano Language Center has earned recognition for its English training programs offered at its campuses in Medellín, Cali, Neiva, and Popayán. Through its “Ruta al B1” (Path to B1) initiative, over 10,000 students have been trained between 2021 and 2025, with a pass rate of over 90% in each cycle. This commitment to bilingualism reflects the institution’s mission to train well-rounded professionals who are prepared to meet the challenges of a globalized world.
Moreover, mastering a second language such as English has become an essential tool for accessing better job, educational, and cultural opportunities. Strengthening bilingualism contributes to regional development and to the transformation of the country.
