Social Action through Physiotherapy
- 1 septiembre, 2025

As a clear demonstration of academic commitment to community well-being, third-semester students from the Physiotherapy program at Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Neiva campus, carried out an outstanding community outreach activity aimed at elderly individuals from the community dining hall of the Perpetuo Socorro Church, located in Comuna 3.
The event, developed within the framework of the Public Health course, focused on enhancing mobility, preventing disease, and improving the quality of life of older adults. To achieve this, the future physiotherapists conducted adapted physical exercise sessions, accompanied by educational campaigns promoting health and well-being.
With a comprehensive approach and participatory dynamics, the students not only provided practical tools to encourage healthy habits but also created a valuable space for integration and support for the beneficiaries. The warmth of the event was evident in every activity, reflecting the empathy and service-oriented spirit of these young professionals in training.
Initiatives like this, beyond enriching the educational process, reinforce the university’s role as a key agent in social transformation, bringing knowledge to the communities that need it most and promoting human development through health and care. Fundación Universitaria María Cano legitimizes its mission with an academic training of high social impact, where learning also means serving.
