Health Brigade for Caregivers Arrives in Medellín’s Comuna 8
- 17 octubre, 2025

In partnership with the Medellín Care System, led by the Mayor’s Office, the María Cano University Foundation held a new Health Brigade, specifically aimed at people who care for others. This event took place on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Care Circle in Comuna 8 – UVA La Imaginación, and offered free services in occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, nutrition, and psychology.
This initiative is part of the Medellín Care System, a program focused on recognizing, redistributing, and reducing unpaid caregiving work—primarily carried out by women. These brigades aim to offer essential health services to those who dedicate their lives to others but often neglect their own well-being.
The María Cano University Foundation’s participation reflects its strong social commitment to the health and wellness of Medellín’s community. With a focus on social outreach, volunteerism, and coordinated efforts with the local government, the institution strengthens community health and promotes greater equity and inclusion.
The next Health Brigade will take place on November 7 in Comuna 3, at UVA La Alegría. The same services—occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, nutrition, and psychology—will be available. Everyone is welcome to join these spaces designed for well-being!
