University reflection on the right to food in Colombia

The Nutrition and Dietetics Program of the María Cano University Foundation held the academic event “Analysis of the Right to Food in Colombia”, organized within the framework of the course Progressive Right to Food and led by Professor Paula Andrea Giraldo Sánchez, from the program’s Public Health line. The event aimed to promote reflection on the right of all people to adequate, sufficient, dignified, and culturally appropriate food, recognizing this issue as a key element of social justice, sustainability, equity, and a dignified life.
During the session, fifth-semester students presented research papers offering critical analyses on nationally relevant topics such as the impact of the armed conflict on food sovereignty, the feminization of hunger, and the role of the School Feeding Program in ensuring this fundamental right. The meeting showcased the commitment of the Nutrition and Dietetics Program to the comprehensive training of professionals capable of understanding social contexts, proposing solutions, and actively contributing to the construction of a fairer, healthier, and more equitable society.
