The most recent edition of the Noche Guarceña, organized by the Mayor’s Office of El Retiro, highlighted institutions and individuals who have significantly contributed to the cultural and educational development of this municipality in eastern Antioquia. During the ceremony, the María Cano University Foundation received special recognition for the impact of its academic initiatives and its commitment to high-quality education.

The María Cano Language Center stood out for its leadership in the Academic Immersion Program in Malta, an initiative that strengthens English language teaching as an essential tool for students’ professional futures. This program demonstrates the center’s dedication to innovative methodologies and international learning experiences that enhance students’ communicative competence in a second language.

As part of this effort, 10 teachers from the municipality were trained to achieve the A1 English level through the Teacher Bilingualism Training Program. Among them, three outstanding participants were selected to join the immersion experience in Malta—an opportunity designed to expand their intercultural understanding and strengthen their academic and linguistic skills in a global environment.

This recognition reaffirms the strategic role of the María Cano University Foundation—especially through its Language Center—in consolidating English proficiency as a key opportunity for comprehensive education and international projection for professionals in Colombia. The institution continues to promote academic experiences that raise educational quality and open new paths for personal and professional growth.
