Misak Alliance Transforming the Territory
- 23 febrero, 2026
From the Popayán campus of Fundación Universitaria María Cano, progress is being made in defining and consolidating partnerships with the Misak Indigenous Cabildo of the municipality of Silvia, Cauca. This collaboration stands as a key strategy to promote the comprehensive development of the territory through an academic, research, and social outreach approach, aligned with the multicultural character of the region.
This joint work builds bridges of dialogue between scientific knowledge and ancestral wisdom, strengthening educational processes with territorial relevance. In this way, the Institution reaffirms its commitment to higher education that recognizes the unique dynamics of communities and responds to their real needs.
Likewise, this alliance opens pathways to expand access for Indigenous communities and the broader population of the territory to opportunities in education, research, and extension, fostering participation, inclusion, and collective knowledge-building. Social outreach is thus consolidated as a connecting axis that brings the university closer to the contexts where its presence generates value and transformation.
The partnership between Fundación Universitaria María Cano and the Misak Indigenous Cabildo not only enhances institutional capacities but also highlights cultural diversity as a driver of regional development. Through this joint effort, progress is made toward more relevant, inclusive, and transformative higher education in service of communities and the country.
