María Cano strengthens training with new Food Laboratory in Medellín
- 4 marzo, 2026
Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Medellín campus, officially opened the new Food Laboratory for the Nutrition and Dietetics program, an academic space designed to strengthen hands-on training and experiential learning for students. This modern facility enables the integration of theory and practice in real-world conditions, enhancing the quality of the educational process and responding to current sector demands.
The laboratory features safe environments and specialized equipment that ensure strict compliance with biosafety standards, promoting the development of technical competencies in a controlled and reliable setting. Through this initiative, María Cano continues consolidating modern learning environments that support the education of highly qualified professionals committed to health and nutrition care.

This institutional investment also expands services to the community and creates new opportunities to offer courses, workshops, diploma programs, and continuing education seminars in the field of food and nutrition, strengthening the University’s academic and social outreach in the region.
The Nutrition and Dietetics program at María Cano aims to educate well-rounded, ethical, autonomous professionals with critical thinking skills, capable of analyzing and transforming food and nutrition challenges from a glocal perspective. Graduates are prepared to identify nutritional needs, assess nutritional status across the life course, and provide comprehensive care—especially to vulnerable populations—through the promotion of healthy eating habits and the dietary management of chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, among others.
