Speech-Language Pathology Strengthens Training in Social Health Research
- 9 abril, 2026
The Speech-Language Pathology program developed a professional development seminar titled “Research, Action, and Participation in the Social Determination of Health,” an academic space aimed at strengthening the competencies of students in clinical practice from a critical, reflective, and interdisciplinary perspective.
The activity featured guest speakers from the Universidad del Cauca, who shared experiences and reflections on social research applied to the field of health, providing conceptual and methodological insights to better understand the relationship between social contexts and health processes.

During the session, approaches that integrate community action, active participation of individuals, and the analysis of social realities were explored as fundamental components in knowledge construction, promoting a broader and more integrative view of professional practice.
The speakers also emphasized the importance of understanding health from a comprehensive perspective, moving beyond the traditional clinical approach and recognizing the role of human communication within diverse and complex social contexts.
This type of academic initiative strengthens students’ research training, fosters critical thinking, and consolidates a professional vision committed to social dynamics, reaffirming the contribution of Speech-Language Pathology to territorial transformation and community well-being.
