Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Medellín campus, hosted the 12th Regional Meeting of Significant Practices in Psychology, organized by the REPPSI Professional Psychology Practice Network – Antioquia node. The event brought together students, faculty, and representatives from higher education institutions across the region.

The meeting served as a key platform to highlight the impact of professional practice in psychology, emphasizing its role in transforming social, organizational, and community contexts. Such spaces underscore the importance of experiential learning as a core component in the education of future psychologists, enabling them to apply knowledge in real-world and diverse settings.

Throughout the event, participants shared experiences derived from their field placements across various areas of psychology, demonstrating how the discipline contributes to mental health, well-being, and social development through clinical, educational, organizational, and community-based approaches.

Beyond the presentation of experiences, the meeting fostered reflection on the role of psychologists in contemporary society and the importance of ethical, critical, and socially committed professional training. In this sense, professional practice emerges as a meaningful learning environment where theory, research, and intervention converge.

A key highlight of the event was the evaluation of significant practices, through which one outstanding experience was selected to represent the region at the national REPPSI meeting, strengthening the academic projection of participating institutions at the national level.

The event also included spaces for dialogue on diversity, inclusion, and the challenges of professional practice in psychology, reinforcing the importance of training professionals who are responsive to social realities and capable of driving meaningful change.
