Fundación Universitaria María Cano took part in the launch of the royalties-funded project “Strengthening a multidisciplinary and integrative approach from basic sciences in the study of infectious diseases in Colombia: a model focused on dengue and acute respiratory infection (ARI)”, an initiative aimed at enhancing scientific research and institutional collaboration in the study of infectious diseases across the country.
The launch event was held at the Government of Huila in the city of Neiva, bringing together representatives from academia, government, and the public health sector. The project is expected to impact the departments of Atlántico, Huila, Cauca, and Norte de Santander, positioning itself as a regional effort to strengthen scientific capacity and address priority health challenges.

During the event, partner institutions, territorial authorities, and public health representatives reaffirmed the importance of coordinated efforts between academia and government to advance evidence-based solutions.
This project will promote applied research processes focused on the analysis, prevention, and management of diseases such as dengue and acute respiratory infections, integrating knowledge from basic sciences and fostering innovative strategies with direct impact on communities.

Through its participation, Fundación Universitaria María Cano reaffirms its commitment to the generation of relevant scientific knowledge, research with a territorial approach, and the development of partnerships that contribute to social well-being and more effective responses to public health challenges.
