- 20 mayo, 2026
The Occupational Therapy Program at Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Medellín campus, welcomed Professor Emerson Meza Cely, faculty member from the University of Pamplona, for an academic visit held from May 19 to 21, 2026. The visit became a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange, professional dialogue, and the strengthening of interinstitutional collaboration.
During his stay, the visiting professor joined first-semester students in the course Foundations of Occupational Therapy, where he addressed the topic of Community Occupational Therapy. In this academic setting, he shared his experience in developing community-based initiatives, allowing students to gain first-hand insight into professional practice and understand the impact of this discipline in promoting autonomy, inclusion, and well-being for individuals and communities in real-life contexts.
The agenda also included meetings with practice faculty, creating an enriching space for exchanging experiences and expertise aimed at strengthening training processes. In addition, Professor Meza met with research faculty, fostering academic dialogue focused on aligning initiatives and building collaborative partnerships with the goal of developing joint research projects between both institutions.
The Occupational Therapy Program at Fundación Universitaria María Cano is distinguished by its comprehensive, high-quality education with emphasis on public health, inclusion, neuroscience, innovation, and entrepreneurship, preparing professionals with the expertise needed to promote, restore, and adapt processes of autonomy and independence throughout the life course in educational, occupational, social, and community settings, through the use of cutting-edge techniques and technologies.
This academic visit reaffirms the institution’s commitment to excellence in education, knowledge exchange, and the consolidation of academic cooperation networks — essential elements for continuing to strengthen the projection of Occupational Therapy and the development of educational processes with meaningful social impact.
