Speech Therapy Students Promote Well-Being and Positive Change in Educational Communities
- 5 junio, 2026
Students from the Educational Practice I course of the Speech Therapy program at Fundación Universitaria María Cano presented the results of their work carried out during the first semester of 2026 at the Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera Technical Educational Institution and its Manuela Beltrán campus, highlighting the positive impact of speech therapy interventions on educational processes and student well-being. Throughout this academic experience, the students benefited 89 members of the educational community through individual and group activities aimed at strengthening communication skills, supporting academic processes, and implementing strategies that contribute to the comprehensive development of children and adolescents.
Among the most significant initiatives were speech and language assessments, intervention workshops, and the implementation of the project “Healing Voices”, a proposal designed to contribute to adolescent suicide prevention through the strengthening of oral and written language as tools for emotional expression, self-awareness, and the development of support networks. This initiative created spaces for reflection, active listening, and communication, promoting protective factors for mental health while contributing to the development of safer, healthier, and more supportive school environments.
The results presentation was supported by professor Saúl Jesús Pulido and support teacher Adriana Huertas Muñoz, who highlighted the students’ commitment, social responsibility, and the quality of the work carried out during their educational practice. Through experiences such as these, Fundación Universitaria María Cano continues to strengthen the education of professionals with a comprehensive perspective, capable of generating meaningful transformations in educational and social settings and positively impacting the quality of life of the communities they serve.
