Fundación Universitaria María Cano continues to strengthen its commitment to relevant, flexible, and regionally connected higher education through its active participation in the Innovative Educational Pathways Project, an initiative led by Colombia’s Ministry of National Education in partnership with La Salle University. The project aims to enhance institutional capacities for implementing the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and designing academic programs that respond to the country’s social and productive dynamics.

As part of this national initiative, María Cano’s Medellín campus hosted the Sixth In-Person Workshop of the project, a collaborative space that brought together representatives from the Ministry of National Education, La Salle University, and several higher education institutions committed to building educational pathways that facilitate student access, retention, mobility, and academic progression through more integrated and relevant learning experiences.

María Cano participates in this initiative through its Faculty of Business Sciences as a member of the Antioquia Territorial Alliance Ecosystem, which includes the Tecnológico Débora Arango, Institución Universitaria Escolme, Corporación Educativa Adventista, the Municipality of Girardota, the Province of Cartama, and the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). This partnership promotes collaboration among academia, public institutions, and territorial stakeholders to address regional talent development and workforce qualification needs.

Representatives from the ALITE Ecosystem also participated in the workshop. This ecosystem is composed of the Metropolitan Technological Institute (ITM), the Institute of Fine Arts, Pascual Bravo University Institution, and the Chamber of Commerce. Together, they advanced the development of communication and training plans aimed at consolidating educational pathways based on Colombia’s National Qualifications Framework.

María Cano’s participation in these initiatives reaffirms its commitment to an educational model that extends beyond the classroom and actively engages with the challenges and opportunities of the territories it serves. Through strategic partnerships, the Institution contributes to the development of innovative educational models that strengthen the connection between higher education, the productive sector, and communities, creating greater opportunities for regional development, employability, and social transformation throughout Colombia.
