Technology Transforming Physiotherapy: María Cano Presents Three Innovations at Colombia 5.0
- 5 noviembre, 2026
Technology is opening up new possibilities for healthcare, and Fundación Universitaria María Cano is contributing to this transformation. As a strategic partner of Colombia 5.0, one of the country’s leading events on innovation and digital transformation, the Institution presented three Physiotherapy research projects that integrate digital tools to strengthen assessment and rehabilitation processes.
Faculty members and students showcased these developments, created through the SIBITEC Research Group, affiliated with the FISIOTER Research Group. Their work demonstrates how scientific knowledge and academic creativity can become technological solutions designed to address real needs in healthcare.

Three projects connecting technology and healthcare
VESTICORE: a vestibular monitoring system designed to track variables related to vestibular function.
CERVISCAN: a mobile application for detecting cervical tilt, helping identify alterations in neck alignment.
FACEREHAB: a gamified application designed to support the rehabilitation of people with facial paralysis, using the House-Brackmann scale as a reference.
These developments reflect the academic community’s commitment to applied research and the exploration of digital alternatives that can strengthen physiotherapy practice. Each initiative represents an opportunity to expand the tools available for assessing, treating, and supporting individuals.

Research opening pathways to the future: Participation in Colombia 5.0 provided an opportunity to showcase the talent and innovative capacity of faculty members and students while strengthening connections between academia, technology, and social transformation. It also highlights the role of Physiotherapy in emerging digital environments, where human movement, autonomy, and quality of life remain essential.
Through initiatives such as VESTICORE, CERVISCAN, and FACEREHAB, María Cano demonstrates how research can reach beyond academic settings and contribute to solutions that put technology at the service of people. Because healthcare innovation also means finding new ways to assess, rehabilitate, and transform lives.
