Qualified registrations

What is qualified registration?

Qualified registration is a mechanism, ruled by the Ministry of National Education, to verify and ensure quality conditions in higher education academic programs, as established in Law 1188 of April 25, 2008 and Decree 1075 of 2015. By means of which the Single Regulatory Decree of the Education Sector is issued» Page 329, Chapter 2: Qualified Registration, Offer and Development of Higher Education Academic Programs.

These conditions, translated into standards, establish specific criteria and levels of quality that refer to the academic characteristics, available physical and human resources, and social and professional relevance of the program offered.

In Colombia, in order to offer a higher education academic program, it must have its own qualified registry, for which the educational institution must demonstrate that each program meets the conditions of quality through a process that consists of:

  • The construction of a document
  • The access of the information requested on the website of the Quality Assurance System in Higher Education (SACES).
  • The visit of Academic Peers through which the Ministry of Education seeks to verify the quality conditions of the program.

For the application and/or renewal of the qualified registration of an academic program, institutions of higher education must take into account the following guidelines:
