Enriching academic experience in Physiotherapy
- 4 septiembre, 2024
Thanks to the programming of an outstanding academic exchange, a group of fifteen students and two teachers from the Physiotherapy program of the María Cano University Foundation, Cali headquarters, undertook a trip to the white city, Popayán. For two intense days, future health professionals immersed themselves in the academic environment of the University of Cauca to strengthen their knowledge in key areas of this program of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The academic mission, carried out on August 29 and 30, had as its central focus the deepening of the specialties of cardiopulmonary and neuromuscular physiotherapy.
Through practical workshops, keynote lectures and visits to specialized health centers, the students had the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom to real cases. Beyond academic training, this initiative encouraged cultural exchange and the development of soft skills essential for professional practice. Participants were able to learn up close about the customs and traditions of the region, interacting with local students and participating in recreational activities that strengthened ties and expanded their perspective of the world.
For the coordinator of the Physiotherapy program at the Cali campus, Alba Liliana Garzón, this experience represents a fundamental step in the comprehensive training of students: «This academic mission not only enriches theoretical knowledge, but also encourages the development of skills such as teamwork, effective communication and adaptation to new environments. We are convinced that this experience will mark a before and after in the professional lives of our students.»
The María Cano University Foundation, faithful to its commitment to academic excellence and social projection, continues to provide its students with unique opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. This academic mission in Popayán is a clear example of the institution’s effort to train competent professionals with a global vision.
