- 2 junio, 2026
The María Cano University Foundation held the 3rd Fonoaudiology Research Seedbed Meeting, an academic event that brought together the institutional community at the Lado A Auditorium under the theme “Innovation in Fonoaudiology Research Processes.” Led by the research group FONOTEC, the event established itself as a key space for scientific dissemination in both in-person and virtual formats.
Throughout the event, the presentation of research outcomes developed within academic practice settings highlighted students’ commitment to academic excellence and the production of applied knowledge. The meeting also recognized outstanding research projects from the Neiva and Medellín campuses, emphasizing methodological rigor and the real-world impact of each study.
Among the awarded projects, first place was granted to a study focused on the validation of a swallowing assessment protocol for adult populations in a healthcare institution in Neiva. Second place recognized research analyzing the influence of sound pressure levels on cognitive concentration and academic performance in school contexts. Third place highlighted the application and barriers of the IDDSI protocol among nursing and kitchen staff at the General Hospital of Medellín.
The event also featured the participation of the Iberoamerican University Corporation as a special guest, presenting the lecture “Landau-Kleffner Syndrome and Its Communicative Characteristics: A Speech-Language Pathology Approach,” enriching academic dialogue and interdisciplinary exchange. Additionally, research seedbed initiatives from Neiva and Popayán were showcased, along with a scientific poster session and the launch of new seedbeds in Medellín focused on Critical Care and Hearing Awareness.
Through initiatives like this, the María Cano University Foundation reaffirms its commitment to strengthening research training, student scientific production, and social transformation across regions, fostering an academic culture oriented toward innovation and community impact.
