A high-quality Language Center

María Cano continues to advance in its quality certification process in the different strategic areas that support all the academic work of the Institution. The Language Center has just received notification from Icontec of the granting of certificates under the NTC 5555 and 5580 standards, which shows the commitment to comply with all the goals set in the Development Plan 2017 – 2026 «Building the Future».
The NTC 5555 Quality Management System certification for work training institutions establishes the requirements for a Quality Management System in Work and Human Development Training Institutions (IFTDH) so that its effective implementation allows demonstrate the institution’s ability to offer educational services that meet user requirements, legal requirements, and the requirements of the productive, economic, and social environment. Certification with this standard allows to give confidence in terms of image, prestige and in achieving a differentiating factor with the competition that offers the same services, while facilitating access to new markets including possible benefits in contracting with the government training activities for work and human development, facilitating the marketing and decision-making of potential applicants for the programs offered. Finally, the investment that companies make in training their employees will be backed by a certification that ensures proper management in the provision of educational services.
For its part, NTC 5580 related to Work Training programs in the area of Languages, provides guidance on the quality requirements that must be met in order to develop communicative skills of understanding, expression, interaction and interpretation of texts or speeches. in its different forms, in accordance with current legislation in the Republic of Colombia.
For the granting of these recognitions by Icontec, fundamental aspects were taken into account for the provision of a quality service, such as:
- The demands and requirements in terms of training by the different impacted audiences: academic, social, cultural and productive.
- The coherence of the programs offered with the Institutional Educational Project of María Cano.
- The levels proposed in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- The impact of training on job opportunities for graduates.Differentiating factors in local, regional and national contexts.
- The methodologies that support the training process.
