Integration of Knowledge Strengthens Training in Human Movement at the Cali Campus
- 30 abril, 2026
Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Cali campus, hosted an academic session that brought together students from the second and third semesters of the Physiotherapy program in an interdisciplinary exercise integrating Physics and Biomechanics.
During the activity, guided by faculty from both areas, students applied theoretical and practical tools to analyze sports movement from different perspectives. While Physics students collected data using stopwatches to calculate displacement, velocity, and acceleration, Biomechanics students conducted a detailed analysis of the forces acting on joints such as the hip, knee, and ankle, as well as joint angles during each movement.

The experience highlighted the importance of integrating different fields of knowledge to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of human movement. The relationship between variables such as acceleration and force magnitude, as well as between joint angles and movement performance, demonstrated that isolated analysis is insufficient to fully understand the complexity of the human body.
This type of academic exercise anticipates the challenges future physiotherapists will face in clinical and sports settings, where combining kinematic analysis with joint load evaluation and movement quality will be essential for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimization.
Through initiatives like this, Fundación Universitaria María Cano continues to strengthen comprehensive training processes, promoting interdisciplinary learning and a practical, applied approach to knowledge.
