- 2 junio, 2026
The María Cano University Foundation held the symposium “Public Health as an Interdisciplinary Field with Emphasis on Social Determinants of Health,” an academic space aimed at promoting critical reflection and knowledge exchange on the contemporary challenges of public health. The event was directed at students, faculty, alumni, and external health professionals, establishing itself as an open and plural environment for academic dialogue.
The symposium, led within the Community Processes Practice I course of the Physiotherapy program, served as an interdisciplinary learning space that enabled participants to analyze the multiple social, economic, cultural, and environmental factors that influence the health conditions and well-being of communities.

Throughout the event, participants deepened their understanding of public health from a comprehensive perspective, recognizing that social determinants of health play a fundamental role in building more equitable, sustainable, and dignity-centered environments.
Additionally, the academic space encouraged the exchange of experiences and knowledge among attendees, strengthening collective knowledge construction and reinforcing the connection between theory and practice in addressing health challenges in local territories.

Through initiatives like this, the María Cano University Foundation reaffirms its commitment to training critical, sensitive, and socially engaged professionals, consolidating higher education as a key driver of human development and collective well-being.
