Medellín, Cali, and Popayán served as the setting for a rewarding seven-week experience of internationalization, knowledge exchange, and cultural immersion. Fundación Universitaria María Cano successfully concluded a new edition of the DELFÍN Program (Summer Program for Scientific and Technological Research of the Pacific), reaffirming its commitment to strengthening borderless research and the comprehensive development of young researchers.

On this occasion, the institution’s campuses welcomed undergraduate students from universities in Mexico, Peru, and various regions of Colombia, who actively joined María Cano’s research groups and projects. Throughout nearly two months of intensive collaborative work, the interns received dedicated guidance from faculty researchers, who fostered their skills, methodological rigor, and critical thinking in the pursuit of generating new knowledge.

Beyond its valuable academic and research components, the students’ stay was marked by a profound cultural immersion. Participants unanimously expressed their admiration for Colombia, highlighting the warmth of its people, the hospitality of the university community, and the richness of the traditions and cultural identity found in each of the regions that welcomed them.

During the closing event, organized to evaluate and celebrate this important milestone, expressions of gratitude and satisfaction took center stage. The students emphasized that their experience at María Cano far exceeded their professional and personal expectations. They also expressed a strong desire to return to the institution in the future, whether to pursue graduate studies, develop joint research projects, or participate in new academic mobility opportunities.

For Fundación Universitaria María Cano, the Faculty of Health Sciences, the academic directors and faculty members who supported the program, and the Office of International Relations (ORI), the outcome could not have been more positive. The successful implementation of the 2026 DELFÍN Program in Medellín, Cali, and Popayán reaffirms the institution’s position as a leading academic destination in Latin America, fostering connected, diverse, and socially impactful research.
