María Cano Contributes to Early Childhood Development Through Community Initiative in Neiva
- 22 abril, 2026
Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Neiva campus, participated in the initiative Neiva territorio de juego para nuestros niños, a program focused on strengthening early childhood development through play-based and community-centered approaches.
The activity was carried out in collaboration with local stakeholders, including Mayor Germán Casagua and the ESE Carmen Emilia Ospina, reinforcing a multi-sector effort to promote child well-being.
During the session, children engaged in activities designed to enhance fine and gross motor skills, language development, and social interaction. Through playful and pedagogical environments, the initiative emphasized the role of play as a fundamental tool for learning and holistic development.
Students from the Physiotherapy program played an active role in leading these activities, applying their academic knowledge in real-world contexts while contributing to community-based interventions that support healthy childhood development.
The initiative also provided an opportunity to raise awareness among parents and caregivers about the importance of nurturing safe, supportive, and stimulating environments that promote children’s physical, cognitive, and social growth.
Through its participation in initiatives like this, Fundación Universitaria María Cano reaffirms its commitment to social engagement, community well-being, and the training of professionals with a strong sense of social responsibility and human-centered care.
