María Cano Research Strengthens Its International Visibility Through Q1 Journal Publications
- 10 julio, 2026
Fundación Universitaria María Cano continues to strengthen its leadership in scientific research through the work of its faculty researchers, who generate knowledge aimed at addressing current challenges in health, rehabilitation, and sports sciences. Their work contributes evidence-based solutions that improve quality of life and support social development.
This commitment to academic excellence and high-level scientific production is reflected in the recent publication of two research studies in Retos, an internationally recognized Q1 journal and one of the leading scientific publications in the fields of physical activity, sports, health, and education. These achievements enhance the institution’s national and international visibility while demonstrating the quality and impact of its research processes.
One of the featured studies is the article “Telerehabilitation in Older Adults with Cardiopulmonary Diseases and Multimorbidity: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial,” led by faculty researcher Silvia Betancur Bedoya. This publication is the result of her doctoral research conducted in collaboration with the International Iberoamerican University (Mexico) and represents a significant contribution to the field of telerehabilitation by providing scientific evidence on innovative strategies for the care and follow-up of older adults with cardiopulmonary diseases and multiple health conditions.

The institution also highlights the publication of the article “Neuromuscular Profile and Eccentric Deficits as Multivariable Predictors of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury Risk,” developed by Professor Sebastián Grajales Toro as part of his doctoral studies. This research provides valuable evidence for physiotherapy and sports sciences by proposing a predictive model that integrates neuromuscular variables to more accurately identify the risk of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in soccer players, contributing to injury prevention and athletic performance enhancement.
