- 15 abril, 2026
The Occupational Therapy program at Fundación Universitaria María Cano welcomed the director of the Chilean Paralympic Committee (COPACHI), along with Professor Claudio Elgueta, an occupational therapist, technical advisor to the national Paralympic rugby team, and academic at Universidad Autónoma de Chile.
During the meeting with students, the guests shared valuable experiences related to the management of adaptive sports and high-performance training, highlighting the essential role of occupational therapists in the comprehensive support of elite athletes. The session became a space for learning and inspiration, showcasing the impact of this profession in high-level sports environments.

The Chilean Paralympic Committee, founded in 2013, is the leading authority of the Paralympic movement in Chile and is responsible for promoting and developing high-performance adaptive sports, supporting athletes in international competitions such as the Parapan American and Paralympic Games, while fostering inclusion through sport.
The visit also enabled progress in building collaborative academic partnerships, aimed at promoting student exchanges, joint research projects, and future training initiatives that strengthen the program’s international projection.
This activity was led by the Occupational Therapy program at María Cano, which seeks to train professionals with expertise in promoting, restoring, and adapting processes of autonomy and independence throughout the life course, across educational, occupational, social, and community settings.

Its curriculum is characterized by high-quality training with a focus on public health, inclusion, and neuroscience, integrating cutting-edge techniques and technologies that support effective interventions based on principles of neuroplasticity and adaptation.
Through initiatives like this, Fundación Universitaria María Cano reaffirms its commitment to educating globally minded professionals capable of making an impact in international contexts and contributing to the development of more inclusive and accessible societies.
