Participation of the Language Center in UPB Retrofutures

Within the framework of the Knowledge Summer School of the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, version 2021, under the concept of Retrofutures, the CeLe Network (Network of Language Centers) officially opened the event with the colloquium called «Ecosystem of languages, cultures and knowledge: education, interculturality and communication ”led by the heads of languages of the universities belonging to the Network.
La María Cano was present with the intervention of María Camila Marín Herrera, Head of the Language Center and coordinator of the CeLe Network, with the theme of «Bilingualism and labor insertion in Medellín» where she invites both higher education institutions and students to promote the use and appropriation of a second language as a transforming axis of professional development.
The Language Center of the María Cano University Foundation, was created in response to the global need in the acquisition of foreign language skills with a view to optimal social, political, economic, cultural and personal performance of our students. This offer is led and operated from the Institution’s Language Center, attached to the International Relations Office, given the relevance of bilingualism and interculturality from the Internationalization Policy, agreement 057 of 2017.
Consequently, our work tends towards a comprehensive training in the achievement of the different levels of competence in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for the teaching, learning and evaluation of languages; Promoting processes of teaching and learning English as a second language, through a communicative methodology adjusted to international standards, providing our students with training spaces with the highest quality.
