Professor Mariutsi Alexandra Osorio Sanabria, member of the Grintec research group of the Faculty of Engineering, participates as a co-investigator of the research project entitled «Reference model for the implementation of data governance in the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises-Mipymes» which is developed through an inter-institutional agreement with Professor Gina Maestre Góngora, a researcher at the Faculty of Engineering of the Cooperative University of Colombia, Medellín headquarters.
Within the framework of the aforementioned project, the master’s degree work of the engineer Yeni Trujillo Lambert, a professional from the Bank of the Republic of Colombia, was directed, and cooperation was achieved with Professor Hernán Astudillo of the Technical University Federico Santa María of Chile expert in the field of information technology management. As a result of this joint work, the construction and publication of the research article entitled «Information Technology Governance in Colombian Small and Medium Companies: An Exploratory Study Using Data Analysis» was achieved.
This article refers to the design, data analysis and results of a survey applied at the national level and related to IT Governance in the Business environment. The survey received responses from 151 IT professionals working at 48 SMEs and 90 large companies. The results indicated that: (1) SMEs associate investment in IT with the generation and improvement of products and services; (2) The performance of employees and users is higher when they work in companies with managers who have a high commitment to IT governance; and (3) 95% of companies with high levels of IT governance implementation consider that these are very important in their strategies.
This publication contributes, in the generation of knowledge to contribute from the Grintec research group in IT-based solution alternatives for Mipymes. Likewise, it makes it possible to visualize the results and capacities of the investigative activity carried out at María Cano.
