Smarter Entrepreneurship: María Cano Transforms Its Innovation Pathway
- 6 noviembre, 2026
Fundación Universitaria María Cano is taking another step toward transforming its innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem through the development of an Intelligent Platform for Entrepreneurial Support. This solution combines artificial intelligence, technological tools, and specialized methodologies to strengthen pre-incubation and incubation processes and support the growth of entrepreneurial initiatives within its academic community.
The initiative began following the Institution’s selection for Phase II – Fortalece of the Medellín Conecta program, led by the Economic Development Secretariat of the District of Medellín and operated by Créame Business Incubator and Accelerator. María Cano was selected as one of 20 beneficiary organizations and received access to a strengthening voucher worth up to COP 35 million, intended to help address institutional gaps through the services of an international provider. The project is currently being developed in partnership with INPLUX, the company responsible for designing and implementing the solution.

A platform that grows alongside entrepreneurs
On October 27, 2026, a pilot workshop was held with 10 entrepreneurial ventures from the Medellín, Neiva, and Cali campuses. Participants explored the platform’s features and experienced its different support stages. The session provided an opportunity to assess user experience, gather direct feedback, and identify areas for improvement. The validation and engagement process has also involved campus directors, faculty members who support business initiatives, and Academic Vice-Rector Luisa Fernanda Álvarez Rodríguez, fostering a coordinated institutional approach.
On November 3, the Institution presented the platform’s progress, which had reached 85% completion against the project’s established goals. The solution will support the identification, assessment, monitoring, and development of entrepreneurial initiatives through a structured, stage-based methodology, with particular emphasis on technology-based ventures.
Innovation across all campuses
The platform is envisioned as a strategic resource within María Cano’s Entrepreneurship Pathway, serving the Medellín, Cali, Neiva, and Popayán campuses. Its implementation will strengthen the capabilities of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit, optimize guidance processes, and address the specific needs of initiatives emerging from healthcare, technology, and management fields.
Artificial intelligence will serve as a tool to support specialized guidance, not as a replacement for professional judgment or human decision-making. Through this initiative, María Cano brings together knowledge, technology, and innovation to foster ventures with growth potential and strengthen an institutional culture that turns ideas into valuable solutions for society.
